ABOUT ME

Joycelyn Rachel is an Indonesian pianist based in Singapore, currently in her final year of the Diploma in Music Teaching at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore. Trained in both piano performance and music education, she is presently preparing for her final diploma recital while actively pursuing performance and teaching opportunities.
Joycelyn has performed as a piano soloist and accompanist at a range of venues and events in Singapore. Her performance highlights include appearances at Presbyterian Church at Prinsep Street, NAFA’s Piano Plus Concert, and the Journey Piano Concert presented by Artists Music Studio at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. She has also participated in Artists Music Studio’s annual concerts held at various venues, gaining valuable experience performing for diverse audiences and in different concert settings.
Alongside her solo work, Joycelyn enjoys collaborative music-making and has worked closely with singers in accompaniment settings. She values collaboration as a way to deepen musical communication and artistic sensitivity, and is currently preparing repertoire to perform with the NAFA Music Teaching Chorus.
Joycelyn’s formal musical training is grounded in her studies at NAFA, where she has developed a strong foundation in piano technique, musicianship, and teaching methodology. She holds an ABRSM Grade 7 qualification in Piano Performance and continues to refine her interpretative and technical skills through her academic studies and recital preparation.
Her academic excellence has been recognised through her placement on the Dean’s List for achieving the highest GPA in her batch during her first semester at NAFA. She entered NAFA with an Entry Bursary Scholarship and remains actively involved in music education outreach, having served as a facilitator for Fu Chun Primary School’s music camp.
Teaching is a central part of Joycelyn’s artistic identity. She currently teaches piano to students aged 3 to 18 and places strong emphasis on aural skills as a fundamental element of becoming a great musician. She believes that music requires passion, patience, and dedication to create meaningful artistic experiences.
Currently, Joycelyn is focused on gaining deeper knowledge and experience in both the performing and teaching worlds, and remains open to exploring new musical genres and artistic opportunities
